Objectives of the Course
|
The Power Electronics Laboratory is intended for undergraduates to demonstrate practical applications of theoretical concepts given in the course Power Electronics I-II.

Course Content
|
Drive circuits for thyristor, Gate-turn-off thyristor, transistor, MOSFET, insulated gate bipolar transistor, MOS-controlled thyristor. Switching losses, hard and soft chopping, heat sink design. Electronic components used to design power electronic circuit, protection and control circuits. Power electronics circuit design examples: DC chopper, AC chopper, controlled rectifier and inverter design.
