History
of the Program.
As a result of
application for opening the program, Special Education Department was opened in
2010/2011 academic year. After reaching the number of faculty members enough to
start acceptance of the program, the application made to YÖK has been concluded
positively. Special Education Teaching Undergraduate Program has begun to
accept students from 2018-2019 academic year.

Mission
:
The mission of the special education
department is to train teachers who want to be independent, productive and
actively participating in collective activities like other individuals in the
society.
In the light of this mission;
1. To provide teacher candidates with the
knowledge and skills that will enable them to acquire the skills necessary for
all individuals with special needs to live independently
2. To provide support services for children
and families with special needs.
3. To inform the public about special needs
individuals and special education services.
4. Participating actively in the process of
determining special education policies.
5. Ensure dissemination and development of
special education services.
6. To ensure that special education services
are carried out as part of general education services.
7. To ensure that the needs of special needs
individuals are met in the least restrictive environment.
8. To increase the quality of special
education services.
9. To train special education teachers who
know and use different teaching methods.
10. To educate special education teachers
who are sensitive to the problems of the field and can produce solutions.
11. To provide interdisciplinary study
skills to special education teachers.
12. To train qualified special education
teachers that the country needs.
13. Raising the right staff for the ethical
rules of the profession.
14. Leading the research that will be
conducted in all areas of special education.

Purpose
of the Program:
Knowing and practicing how the education and
collective harmony of the individuals who need special education can be
realized; be engaged in the planning, execution and monitoring of special
education and related services; examine, test, research and develop studies on
the various problems and needs of the special education field; be able to work
with students, families, teachers, administrators and other members of the
community to ensure that individuals and families with special needs are
trained; qualified, moral, devoted, idealistic special education teacher to the
values of the present age.
General information:
Special
Education Teacher's Degree Program is a 4 year program. The program is designed
to meet the educational needs of prospective teachers seeking to acquire
teaching skills and to enhance career options to serve in the field of special
education. In this sense, the program offers theoretical and practical courses
aimed at providing students with knowledge, skills and experience specific to
the field and contributing to the field in terms of research. Teacher
candidates, according to the updated program YÖK, courses in the field of
vocational information 42 national / 71 ECTS; 19 national / 30 ECTS courses in
general culture courses and 89 national / 139 ECTS credits in courses in field
education should be completed in total 150 national / 240 ECTS credits.

Occupational
Profiles of Graduates:
Students who
have graduated from the Special Education Teacher Program are Special Education
Teachers and can work in the private sector. Public sector; In the schools and
centers that are located in the Ministry of National Education and in the
separate educational environments, in the private education service that are in
private education; can work in special education and rehabilitation centers
according to the private sector. In addition, he is able to work in master's
degree and doctorate in special education departments of universities.
