About Programme
|
Akdeniz University, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture started this education in 2000, at the Faculty of Fine Arts, under the name of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, with a talent exam. It took students with TM-1 points between 2012-2015. 2016 name as the Department of Interior Architecture, and the department was transferred to the Faculty of Architecture. Today, the School of Internal School Schools continues.
Akdeniz Architecture Faculty, Department of Interior Architecture, Interior architecture has the necessary basic knowledge and equipment, visual perception and comprehension are advanced; multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and comprehensive and disciplinary responsibilities related to the construction of the whole environment; acting with the awareness of lifelong learning; and the European Union (EU) in the process of harmonization, which has the competence in use, can have international use; It serves to train creative, sociable and productive interior designers.

History
Our department, which is one of the 2 public schools that train Interior Architects in the Mediterranean region, was established in the 2000-2001 academic year.
As of the 2021-2022 academic year, our department has one Professor, two Associate Professors, one assistant professor, two Lecturers and two Research Assistants. In addition, continues this education with interior architects and architects who provide part-time support from outside.

Qualification Awarded
|
Students who are entitled to graduate receive the title of interior architect. As a 4-year university graduate, they can find a job in the private sector or as public personnel, or they can practice their profession by establishing their own offices.

Admission Requirements
|
Our department accepts students with MF-4 score type. With the DGS exam, to the Department of Interior Architecture; building protection and renovation, decor design, natural stone decoration, natural building stone technology, wall decoration arts, art conservation, interior preservation and renovation, interior design, marble technology, marble, architectural decorative arts, architectural decoration, architectural restoration, furniture and decoration, restoration, restoration and conversion college programs are accepted.

Higher Grade Transition
|
If the graduates of our department get enough points in the ALES and YDS exams, they can do a master's degree in Interior Architecture.

Graduation Requirements
|
Students who have completed 240 credits with the courses they have taken and successfully completed during their 8-semester education and whose professional competence has been approved by the Internship Commission are deemed to be entitled to become an Interior Architect and are entitled to graduate.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
A graduate of the Department of Interior Architecture receives the title of "Interior Architect". The foundation of the profession; to create an artistic design language based on visual communication principles, integrating form and function, making spatial and environmental arrangements, systematizing them and developing standard modules for them.
The working area is quite large. In the field of interior architecture, creation of function and design concepts according to the holistic functions of interior spaces. Preparation of projects in the light of the concept created, preparation of two/three dimensional clear pictures/drawings for presentation and application. In industrial and economic areas: Developing modules related to exhibition and promotion and furniture, stands, pavilions, lighting etc. to be used in these areas. They take part in services such as designing/combining the units (decoration and equipment) and solving the problems as Interior Architects. Also: making designs related to the packaging of the designed products; in cultural fields: Carrying out the task of visual communication in museums, galleries and similar private institutions and public institutions; in the fields of social and educational services: They also provide services in the public areas of the city such as space and unit equipment, urban furniture solutions.

Assessment and Grading
|
Exams in our department consist of two main exams, a midterm exam and a final exam. In addition to these exams, additional evaluations are made according to the type of course such as seminars, projects and assignments. Attendance to the course has an impact on assessment and evaluation between 5% and 10%.
