About Programme

In our Department of Preschool Education, teachers are trained who love and know children, defend their rights and strive to help them reach the highest level in all areas of development. Students who complete this program graduate as creative, active and productive individuals who have knowledge of all the theories, concepts and facts of the field and are equipped to take on the responsibility of child care and education.


History
Within the body of Akdeniz University Faculty of Education, in the 2003-2004 academic year, it started education by taking 30 students to the Primary Education Department Pre-School Teaching undergraduate program. Our faculty gave its first graduates at the end of the 200006-2007 academic year. Since the establishment of our faculty, many panels, excursions, seminars and workshops have been organized; Many congresses, symposiums, conferences and seminars have been attended. Domestic and international publications have been made by the lecturers; Cooperation agreements have been made with many domestic and international education institutions. As of October 2023, 8 lecturers, including 1 Professor, 3 Associate Professors, 2 Doctoral Teaching Staff and 2 Research Assistants, are working in the Department.

Admission Requirements
Students should pass the centrally administered entrance exam conducted by Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM).
Higher Grade Transition
Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can study in graduate education programs, provided that they get a valid grade from the ALES exam and have sufficient foreign language knowledge.
Graduation Requirements
A student is required to successfully complete the designated program of courses meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00 and no DD or FF grades.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Early Childhood Education program intends to include all kinds of practical and theoretical aspects of the field of study and it aims to furnish students with theoretical and practical background so that they are competent pre-school teachers to equip students with the knowledge and skills to design instruction and develop material for pre-school children in nursery schools, kindergartens, special classes, children clubs and research centers as the graduates of the preschool teacher education program.
Assessment and Grading
A variety of assessment methods such as quizzes, mid-term(s), assignment(s), exercise(s), project(s), practice(s), and a final exam are implemented in the programme. Assessment methods may include classical test(s), multiple-choice test(s), homework(s), performance evaluation(s), and product evaluation(s). In order to graduate from the programme, cumulative GPA must be minimum 2.00. A course grade is constituted by evaluating the above stated elements and given by using letters.
