Objectives of the Course To give information about principles and design of physical unit operations in Environmental Engineering particularly used in water and wastewater treatment.
Course Content Reaction kinetics, reaction orders, reactors, screens, grit removal, sedimentation, coagulation and flocculation, aeration and gas transfer, flotation, adsorption kinetics.

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1 Determine degradation reaction kinetics of pollutants found in water and wastewater and find reaction order
2 Have knowledge about reactors and flow regimes used in water and wastewater treatment. Determine mass balances for batch, continuous and plug flow reactors.
3 Determine efficiency equations for all reactor types and compare them.
4 Define working principles and theories for physical unit operations used in wastewater treatment.
5 Design units used in physical operations.
